United Kingdom

The UK is a world leader in many areas of education including engineering, science, art and design, business and management, law and finance. The UK's reputation and legacy as a world centre for scientific research make it a magnet for some of the very best thinkers in the world. With only one per cent of the world's population, the UK is responsible for eight per cent of global scientific publications.

The UK offers a world-renowned education system with qualifications that can make a real difference to your future. It attracts over 600,000 international students each year to a variety of programmes, ranging from English language courses to PhDs.

Benefits of Studying in the UK:

Academic excellence

Universities in the UK have the best academic standards in the world. In fact, four out of the top 10 universities in the world are from the UK, including Oxford and Cambridge. The teaching is interactive and extremely relevant to the industry with an emphasis on practical knowledge and skills-based approach. Moreover, the wholesome experience creates a polished individual.

Work while you learn

To manage your everyday living expenses along with your studies, you can work part-time for up to 20 hours a week during term time. You can even work full-time during your semester break. This will help you pay for your bills as well as gain industry experience in your own field of study as well.

Health benefits for students

As an international student, you'll have access to free medical treatment while studying in the UK through the National Health Service (NHS). In order to avail this benefit, you will have to pay a small International Health Surcharge (IHS). Your IDP counsellor can advise you about this detail.

Affordable:

UK education is a cheaper alternative to other alternates. It further helps that the programmes in the UK are shorter (3 years for undergraduate programmes & 1 year for postgraduate programmes) which reduces the overall cost. Moreover, a large number of scholarships and bursaries are offered by UK institutions, reducing the price further.

Post Study Work Permit:

On 11 September 2019, the UK Government announced the creation of a new graduate immigration route. The route will be open to international students who entered the UK in the academic year 2020/21 onwards and have completed a degree at undergraduate level or above at reputable higher education institutions.

Successful applicants on this route will be able to stay and work, or look for work, in the UK for a maximum period of two years. Graduates will also be able to switch into skilled work visas once they have found a suitable job.

The application process for the new immigration route will be published soon. We will update this page as soon as more details are provided.
